Snow falls every year in the united states and other parts of the world.
Airlines are never prepared for the weather, and they allow people to book flight
they know will not fly, due to their extreme knowledge of potential weather weeks in advance. It is the greet of the corporations that put people through such hell every year. The airline should provide motels for all the people who had to wait for days for a flight to fly home.
I propose the airports should have either underground motels to hold a thousand people when winter storms hit every year, and provide for all their needs, refund the flights, and lower the cost of the flight with a partial refund due to the fact people think current airplane technology can fly in any weather.
It appears the FAA and federal government are now going to investigate as to why 70% of all Southwest Flights have been canceled. Are the pilots not trained for such severe weather, have too many senior pilots retired with not enough seasoned and experienced pilots to do the job of flying in hazardous weather.
Why are our primitive jets unable to fly in severe winter weather, and why don’t we have an alternate form of transportation that can supplement or replace flying in such horrible weather. Why don’t we have an underground massive hyperloop type system that Gene Roddenberry envisioned in one of his movies "Earth 2".
New York has a successful subway system, unlike all the other major cities in the country form the Bay Area, Chicago, Dallas, Ohio, Florida, and all states!
Our airline industry is 100 years old, we have some of the worst airports in the world, in the united states. Where does all that money go for your airline tickets. Why shouldn’t an airline immediately refund monies from canceled flights, why don’t airlines provide accommodations' for stranded travelers.
Pete Buttigieg should investigate these things, and mandate under these severe weather circumstances, motels and hotels by the airport should be automatically provide room and board for all passengers until they can fly home. It is akin to migrants coming into the country but providing and shelter for them. The same is true for airline passengers who have no room, or private bathroom, with many spending days at the airport.
A need is now for a secure motel and hotel attached next to the airports, underground with room for 2000 or more passengers for emergencies, including bad weather, calling for canceled flights. We need national shelters like this.
With all the billionaires, and corporations, they could easily build millions of 3d printed homes for everyman woman and child in the united states, that is renting, or homeless.
A program would be created whereby these people would get need training for jobs to help pay off their home. There are so many things we can do to help the people most in need of assistance, to give them a leg up, to improve their quality of life. That would send a message to the world, that the United States helps people who can help themselves, and contribute to our economy when given a chance.
Elon Musk with his 15K home would easily be able to build enough for every migrant in the southern part of the united states, and every homeless person in every city in the united states. As a nation we need to reexamine how we treat each other, and those less fortunate than ourselves.
The wealthy top 1% could help so many, since they hold 99% of our countries wealth, they can affect the most change in this country, and planet.
